BMW museum in Munich
During summer 2008, a new BMW museum was open to the public, inviting people to come and experience the spirit of past, present and future of BMW innovation. The museum is a perfect example of balance between digital art, modern design and architecture. The glass and steel construction features an enormous media façade inside the museum, impress visitors with old fashioned black and white video content.
The project started as collaboration between Street Television and G-LEC Europe GmbH. The part of our team was development and implementation of a design for the media façade by utilizing various prototyping tools that made it possible to try out different ideas and technique for the façade. The main challenge in designing the façade was the complex shape of the walls. A number of building elements, like glass holders, doors and stairs, protrude surface of display, made the challenge for the inventor even greater.
As a result, we invent a first cut-to-size LED display panel, which make complete project perfectly implemented. A standard size LED panels were cut-to-size on site with a simple tools during building of museum. A total of 700 square meters of panels were processed and installed. Development, design and implementation of the project take 2 years to complete.
